Training

All of our members are experienced 4×4 drivers with an increasing number having passed the Institute of Advanced Drivers Advanced Driving Test.
Some also have BORDA or LANTRA off road driving qualifications.
As part of the Highland 4×4 Response Group you will get the chance to take part in regular training days which will give you a chance to drive off road with expert supervision and guidance, you’ll learn about car control, self recovery techniques to get you out of trouble as well as how to use recovery equipment such as winches.
You’ll also learn correct radio technique which is essential for clear and accurate communication during incidents and call outs.
Responders are all given first aid training in case the need to administer to someone at the scene whilst awaiting assistance.
Navigation – Correct use of maps and Sat-Nav equipment – crucial given some the environments we operate in.
